How Forged Wheels Are Made

Forged Wheels:
Built Different

Every forged wheel begins as a solid billet of 6061-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum, pressed under 8,000+ tons of force. The result: a wheel that's stronger, lighter, and more precise than cast or flow formed alternatives.

The Process

From Billet to Wheel

Every forging shape starts the same way -- with raw aluminum and extreme pressure.

Why Forged?

Forged vs Cast Wheels

Forged Wheels
What Forgiato Builds
A solid aluminum billet is pressed under extreme heat and pressure, then CNC-machined to final shape. The forging process aligns the metal's grain structure, producing a wheel that's up to 3x stronger than cast at significantly less weight.
  • Strongest construction available
  • 25-30% lighter than cast equivalents
  • Tighter tolerances (±0.006mm)
  • Custom sizes, offsets, and finishes
Cast Wheels
Mass-Produced Alternative
Molten aluminum is poured into a mold and cooled. Faster and cheaper to produce, but the metal grain structure is random — resulting in a heavier, more brittle wheel that requires thicker material to achieve the same strength.
  • Lower cost, mass production
  • Heavier at equivalent strength
  • Limited to stock mold sizes
  • More prone to cracking under impact
Construction Types

Multi-Piece vs Monoblock

Multi-Piece Construction
2-Piece & 3-Piece Forged
The face, inner barrel, and outer barrel are forged and machined separately, then assembled with aircraft-grade fasteners. Maximum customization of width, offset, and lip depth.
  • Fully adjustable width & offset
  • Replaceable barrel sections
  • Maximum lip depth options
Available: Tecnica, ECL, Duro, Terra, RA, Slantlip
Monoblock Construction
1-Piece Forged (Monoleggera)
Machined from a single forged aluminum billet with no joints or seams. The lightest, strongest option for performance-focused applications.
  • Lightest possible weight
  • No assembly seams or joints
  • Track-ready strength
Available: Monoleggera (9", 10", 11", 12" widths)
Available Diameter Range
1832
Custom-forged to order in every inch increment.
