Almost three decades ago the other oval badge made a pretty serious claim. The fresh brand from Japan known as Lexus set its sights on the German competition that reigned supreme for several decades past. With the smoothest driving cars, and unbeatable reliability, a storm was brewing, and this time it was on our shores.
Almost immediately the popularity of the new brand sky rocketed, and soon enough the aftermarket industry began providing parts to those who were thirsty to create the saying “sexy Lexy”. The Aristo, or as we better know it, the Lexus GS, is a potent platform for building a fantastic aftermarket machine. With a silky smooth V6, rear wheel drive, and a chassis allowing aggressive offsets, the possibilities are great.
When Jays Gold Plating (@jays_gold) of Florida got to work on this stateside luxo Lexus, it wasn’t going to be a quick turnaround. Oh no, the owner (@roly.lo) and the shop had greater plans. Doing what the plating shop does best, they got to work on removing absolutely every piece of silver and dipping in beautiful yellow gold. Starting with the door handles, then the window trim, oh and don’t forget the bottom trim as well – all gold.
In keeping with their promise, Jays then ordered up the plans for a set of Autonomo’s that where, you guessed it, plated in gold. But dipping a wheel is far too easy, and a little too much for a not too loud Lexus, so balance was in the details. To fill the white Lexus’ wheel wells 22” of Forgiato metal was mounted. Remember that gold thing? Yeah, the spokes – gold, and the hardware, that’s gold too!
